I've been in the digital and design world for 10+ years. I've learned a lot about design, but I've mostly been learning about myself. Here's what I know:
I can't dial back passion, so I need a job that I care about. I'm likely to experience stress and frustration, which is natural, and I'll recover—but I want to make sure I'm feeling these things for a cause that I care about.
I would rather be empowered and risk losing my job than be impeded with job security. I need a healthy work environment that empowers me to take responsibility for results.
I want to work at a place that truly puts humans first. In a world where AI lets us build almost anything, I want to make sure I'm building something worth building.

I'm a follower of Jesus.
He's the way and the truth and the life. I think His great commission and His model of face-to-face discipleship are the best way to spread hope to the world.
I love my wife, Kristin.
She is wonderful and has a big heart that inspires me. She has helped me through many struggles and has been patient with me.

I enjoy designing things, listening to users, analyzing data, and translating that understanding into simple principles that address complex problems.
UX principles
Human-centered
Good design should have a singular focus on making life better for the people we serve. If those people are not at the center of design work, then it isn't human-centered.
Healthy work environment
Everyone we work with deserves to feel trusted, empowered, valued, and respected. Employee satisfaction directly relates to quality of work.
Measure what matters
Conversation rate does not measure quality of life. Ask the right questions, listen closely, and connect what people say with business and product metrics.
Experiment mindset
A learning from a well-designed experiment is rarely simply good or bad. Poorly designed experiments, however, risk giving false confidence.
Design sets us free
Design should empower choices rather than create dependencies. Respectfully, I hope you never need this website again.
