I love my wife, Kristin.
She has a huge heart and inspires me all the time. She has also walked with me through hard seasons with a lot of patience and love.
Design is worship
Just like creation shows signs of beauty that point to the loving and caring nature of its Creator, user experience design is a reflection of its creators' collective character and intention. As a follower of Jesus, I want my work to reflect the nature and character of God and be pleasing to Him.
How I work
I'm going to use gardening analogies because I like to garden.
Feed the roots
When I'm serving a business or customer need, I want to get as close as I can to the root cause or problem before even putting pen to paper to design. In the garden, that means asking "what are we trying to grow here?", "what soil does it grow best in?" and "how much water and sunlight does it need?".
Build a great trellis
When I have clear responsibilities and am accountable to clear outcomes I do a better job. Like a vine growing on a trellis, I'll grow and get better along the way, as long as the support is there that keeps my role and objective clear.
Pruning brings a larger harvest
There are over 2 million apps on the app store and many of them are continuously adding and optimizing dozens of features. As AI makes building easier, judgment matters more: what is worth building, for whom, and why?
